Devotional Thoughts Morning Statement of Faith

whiningLet me tell you about my day so far. For some reason, I woke up before the alarm clock went off and could not go back to sleep. I hate when that happens because I feel tired the rest of the day and that makes me grumpy. I got in the shower and realized halfway through that someone had used the last of the shampoo so I had nothing to wash my hair with. I got dressed and went downstairs to breakfast, irritated about all the clutter in the kitchen. When I went to get the milk for my cereal, I realized it had expired yesterday and no one had bothered to buy any more. On top of that, the internet wasn’t working for some reason, so I couldn’t check to see what insane political stuff people had posted on Facebook. (Man, those people need to be set straight – they are so stupid!) I got Jacob ready for school and out the door, which is similar to rolling a two ton boulder up a mountain, and had to deal with all those other crazy parents who apparently don’t know how to navigate the car drop-off lane at the school. Some guy cut me off in traffic and I seemed to hit every stoplight red on my way to work. It’s going to be “one of those days.”

Devotional Thoughts Morning Statement of Faith

20120802221109_badnewsA couple of weeks ago, I did a post on My Morning Statement of Faith (click the link to read it), which are five statements that I came up with for myself of things I need to be reminded of first thing in the morning. I kind of threw them at you with only a little explanation of why these statements were the ones I came up with, so I decided to do a series of posts to kind of zoom in on my particular “morning statements.” I still encourage you to come up with your own.

Devotional Thoughts Morning Statement of Faith

WDF_1400490Are you a morning person? I am. I seem to be more alert in the mornings, making it easier to concentrate and get things accomplished. I’m sure the multiple cups of coffee I enjoy don’t hurt, either. Sometime in the afternoon, I feel myself start to get sluggish. I’m more easily distracted and just don’t seem to be able to get quite as much done. Because of this pattern, I try to start each morning off right because I know I have a limited amount of time where I will be operating at “peak” levels. How do you start your mornings?

Devotional Thoughts Morning Statement of Faith

Screen Shot 2015-05-09 at 2.38.18 PMLast week, I talked about how we can get so caught up in working for Christ that we don’t realize that we are actually getting in the way of what God wants to accomplish. If you missed that post, you can read it by clicking here.
