I wanted to give everyone a quick update on the preparations for my upcoming Jamaica mission trip and let you know that God is already at work. First of all, thank you so much to all of you who have already sent in your financial support – Christina and I are about at the halfway mark towards raising enough money to be able to go on this trip. I can’t tell you how much it means to me that our family and friends are behind us on this. I hate asking people for money but we have seen a great outpouring of love so far!
Now a story of God’s provision: Last year, I was able to take the first bass guitar I had ever owned with me to Jamaica so I would have an instrument to play. I had upgraded several years ago after I started playing more and more but I had hung onto that first one. Because of the great need for quality instruments in Jamaica, I donated that one to one of the local churches there through one of their students who had been in my training class. Since I’m not a collector of guitars (yet!) I have been kind of stressed knowing that I was going to have to take the bass I use every Sunday on the trip with me this time. I was worried it would get damaged or torn up during the trip.
God already had it under control. This past Sunday one of the other guys who plays in the praise band with me sometimes came up to me with a bass guitar that he wanted to GIVE to me. I play a four-string bass and this was a five-string bass that he thought I would be interested in. He has a ton of guitars and was looking to clear out some space and although I offered to pay, he didn’t want my money. The really crazy part is that he had no idea that I was heading to Jamaica and was wondering where I might be able to get another guitar!
So God is already working out the details of this trip! If you would be willing to join in this work, please consider a financial donation. To find out more information about how to give, read this post. (Email subscribers will hopefully see a link at the bottom of the email.)
