What would you do this Sunday if you went to church and the air conditioner was broken? What if the heat index was right around 100 degrees? Assuming your church didn’t simply cancel services due to this devastating tragedy, how would this situation distract you from the worship service?

We have made it to Jamaica! We did have to pay a little bit more money at the gate than we had planned to check our extra luggage (we are bringing lots of notebooks and other supplies including a portable sound system for the music camp next week), but there were no issues with bringing my bass guitar as a carry-on item. It got a little dicey when we landed in “Mo-bay” (what the locals call Montego Bay) and had to go through customs, however. We were concerned that they would force us to pay a duty on the more expensive sound equipment that we brought. It took a lot of negotiating and explaining and praying, but eventually after about 25 minutes, they let us go through without any additional charge.

Devotional Thoughts Jamaica Mission

Tomorrow is the big day! Going to wake up bright and early so I can be at the church at 4:30 AM to catch a ride to the airport and then a flight to Jamaica. I’m fairly certain I won’t be able to sleep much tonight anyway because of the excitement, and I have never been able to sleep much in a car or a plane, so I’m hopeful that a few extra doses of caffeine will get me through what will be a long day. We will hit the ground running tomorrow afternoon and leap right into performing and teaching at a Worship Leader’s Conference near Montego Bay.

It took me way too long to post this, but here is a clip of Christina and me singing Matt Maher’s “Lord, I Need You” as part of my family’s mini-concert at church earlier this month. This is a fantastic song, by the way, and I encourage you to find, listen to, and buy the original. My favorite lyric: “And when I cannot stand, I’ll fall on You…”
