Found an old friend when I got to the camp today: the bass guitar I brought down last year and gave to my best student.  This was the first bass guitar I ever owned and the one I learned to play with.  My student from last year was there at camp as a camp leader and let me play it for our morning worship set.  It was really a great answer to prayer for it to show up when I needed it.

The first part of the day was a trip from Kingston to Ocho Rios where we took a couple of hours to climb the Dunn River Falls.  The water was cold, which was really refreshing.

Sunday was a full day of ministry in Kingston.  Our team played for worship and Pastor David preached the message in the morning.  Our worship set was about 2 1/2 times the length that I’m used to but that was perfectly okay with me.  There are so many talented musicians on our team that they are fun to play with and the worship times are the best part of the trip for me.  We also did a Sunday School class after worship where we talked about the importance of daily time with God and how to best accomplish that.

By the time you read this, I will be on my way to Jamaica on mission for a second straight year.  God has been faithful this week to allow me to take care of a lot of logistical things both at home and work since I will be gone for what amounts to 12 days.  I am so blessed to have a loving wife who is okay with me following this call and a job that allows me the opportunity to go “off the grid” for this long.

periscopeWell – Friday is the big day!  We will be leaving the church at 4:00 AM (yikes) Friday morning to head to Jamaica on mission.  There is a lot to do in last minute preparations both for the trip itself and getting things at home and work prepared for my absence of 10 days.  But I wanted to quickly post and let you know how you can share in this Jamaica trip and stay up to date with what is going on with our team.
