When Life Gets in the Way

It’s been a while since I’ve posted so I wanted to give a little bit of an update on what’s going on in my world.  I’m still hard at work on a six song album I will be releasing (hopefully) in the next few months.  I had hoped to be farther along on it but as often happens, life has other plans.  If you have ever seen the fantastic movie, “Mr. Holland’s Opus,” you know that it centers around a musician who desires to write a symphony but can never get around to finishing it because of the different demands that his life places on him.  I can relate to that quite a bit.

Fortunately it’s not awful things that have kept me from spending as much time in the studio as I would have liked.  (Well, there were those leaky pipes under the bathroom sink that I had to fix, but nothing worse than that.)  Christmas is always a busy time for church musicians and this one was certainly no exception.  Non-music stuff hits this time of year as well.  I do a lot of law enforcement training at the start of each year in four hours blocks, so that’s a lot of time spent preparing and then lecturing.  Christina is going to college in the fall and so we’ve recently spent a lot of time looking into financial aid issues for that as well.

I haven’t stopped working on my music, though.  Since I haven’t been able to work that much on the new album, I’ve been considering my previous albums (with Francisco Road) and completing some things with them that I never got around to doing.  All of that to say this – stay tuned in the next couple of weeks for some big announcements concerning those previous albums in addition to some additional things to come in 2015!  And as always, thanks for your loyal support.  (And if any of you are interested in sponsoring me so that I can make music my full time job and get these songs out quicker, you know where to find me.  I think it would only take about 200k or so!)
